This international company based in Bristol is the undisputed market-leading provider of financial reconciliation software solutions with a 37% market share and over 1,100 clients globally, including 75 of the world's top 100 banks.
You will work in a busy team environment developing a banking/finance application which is a thick-client (Swing) UI for configuring workflows, which are executed in a J2EE application server. The interface has an extensive and expanding feature set with demanding graphical requirements that will require imaginative and innovative solutions.
You will need to apply your experience coupled with new skills and domain-specific knowledge that you will acquire at the client as part of a lively and enthusiastic team.
You will have
·Sound software engineering skills, with 3+ years of client-side software development in Java using Swing components.
·Extensive experience in the production of structured, extensible, and maintainable client software, with a good grasp of common UI implementation patterns.
·An appreciation of the issues involved in the design of GUIs that are both attractive and practical.
·Good written and oral communication skills.
It will be useful to have
·Background knowledge of third-party alternatives to Swing components.
·Familiarity with common development tools and technologies, including
Eclipse, Ant, JUnit, and SVN.
·A working knowledge of some of the following
Threading,
XML, XSD, and XSLT
Messaging and Queues (JMS)
SQL and JDBC (Oracle, SQLServer)
Spring, Hibernate, Application Servers (JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere)
Desired background
·Degree educated
·Experience of banking/finance industry
